I got a call one afternoon from the Dr Phil Show. At first I thought it was a friend pulling an early April Fools joke on me. But it turned out it was a researcher for The Dr. Phil Show. I was very surprised, and asked them how they found out about me. I had forgotten that I had sent them some information about my company in hope that they would do a show about my business.

Well, I listened to what the researcher was looking for and wrote it all down. I told her I would call her back as I would have to think about it and talk to some of my customers.

The theme of the show was “Older women with younger boyfriends that they like buying gifts for”, the opposite of a sugar daddy/sugar daddie I guess. So, they wanted me to contact some of my customers who showed a preference for younger men. In the meantime I contacted a few friends that had appeared on the Dr. Phil show to get their feedback. Well, I tried to avoid the flu but it found me. I have gone as far as carrying that hand cleaner in my purse, I use my sleeve to open things. Man I am not a germaphob but when you see people walking around, sneezing in their hands then opening a door, kids with drippy noses in shopping carts, people who do not wash their hands when they use a public washroom….Yikes!

So I am writing this at home, sniffing and sneezing so I do not spread it around. So you can say that I am doing my part to kill this little bug right here.

Glad to see that Beckham made it to Canada. But hey Victoria…where were you? Did you know that Canada has a Rodeo Drive. O.k. it is not called Rodeo Drive, it is called Yorkville. The Mile of Mink. If you stand on the north side of the street, and cast your eyes to the south, you will see Chanel Boutique, Hermès, Max Mara, Prada, Montblanc Boutique, Tiffany & Co., Cole Haan, Lacoste, Godiva, Birks, Bulgari and Aveda. Stand on the south side and look north at Harry Rosen, Holt Renfrew, Christofle, Plaza Escada, Cartier, Bang & Olufsen, Roots, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and Swarovski. And that’s just Bloor Street West. Not to mention Jeanne Lottie if you are looking for a designer purse. And I can not talk about Yorkville without mentioning Celebration shoes Now this place you will LOVE. My daughter Katie got married last year. We spent a year looking for her wedding shoes. Just weeks prior to the wedding we decided to go to Yorkville and see my friend Jeanne Lottie. She did not have anything in my daughters size but we got some beautiful purses. She recommended the store upstairs which is Celebration Shoes. Not only did Katie find shoes, she had the owner customize them so they fit into the old english style of her wedding. Katie’s dress was an oyster color and Celebration Shoes found old crochet lace and and stones to match her dress. The result was amazing!! So Victoria, I would suggest if you ever decide to come to Toronto to check out our little jewel of shopping in Yorkville.

David Beckham has style, and it is his own. Check out his ever changing hairstyles and clothes on his official website at David Beckham Men love to copy his style, his hair, his clothes. Remember the days of Farrah Fawcett? Women rushed out to hairdressers to get the same hairdo. The same thing is happening with Victoria, everyone wants to have her hairstyle.

But one thing I will give David Beckham credit for is his academy David was fortunate to go to a soccer school and now offers this opportunity to kids from the ages of 8 - 15. So if you want your kids to learn how to Bend it Like Beckham this is the place to start.

Well David, hope your ankle heals fast, you have a lot of eager fans waiting to see you play.

Okay the title is weird, but I went for a drive yesterday afternoon so I could eat my lunch near the water. There wasn’t a seagull in site. Then I decided to throw some BBQ fritos out the window. Yes I had a very healthy lunch. Within seconds there were about 25 - 30 seagulls surrounding my car. I started throwing a few fritos out the window and all the seagulls starting fighting and making seagull noises. (I actually looked up on the Internet what it was called when they make their noise and found nothing. Anyways, back to my story. I decided to open the door of my car and start dropping the fritos closer and closer to the car. All the seagulls stood back and barked (for the lack of a better word) You could see a pecking order (sorry for the pun) and they would threaten any other bird that got in its way. Then suddenly from the back of the flock, one sole seagull walked slowly up to my car. I stayed really still as it approached the open door of my car. Read more »

It has been over 10 years…maybe more since I picked up a book. I just got busy in my life and then the Internet came a long and ate away all my time.

Just last month I picked up my first book and read it. I use to start at the back of a book, I was an impatient reader, but this time I started at the front and before I know it I had read 50 pages. My journey started with the secret.

The other books I have read have been
1. Jack Canfield Success Principles
2. Ladies Who Launch by Victoria Scolligan and Beth Schoenfeldt (with Amy Swift)
3. The Creative Habit Twyla Tharp - Learn it and Use it for Life

For any woman starting in business you need to read Ladies Who Launch. I was walking out of Chapters Book Store the other day and say it just as I was heading out the door. The put the books there like chocolates at the cashier….I read the back cover and thought hey, I need this book. They have a website www.ladieswholaunch.com but buy the book, you will need it and then go and register on the site. There are meetings all over the United States and in Canada. I found one in Toronto and I am just waiting to hear from them.

Well it is nearly 2:00 in the morning and I need to get this posted, so happy reading
