Well it appears that free online dating websites are in the news again. I have also heard from a customer who had used a free dating site in the past and I want to share her story with my readers. I will call her Gail M to protect her identity. She had signed up with a popular free dating sites over 3 months ago. She is a very attractive woman in her early 30’s. As soon as she posted her ad she got a ton of responses. Several of the men were married, 3 of them tried to pass themselves off as American business man but one look at their email said something different. The rest of the men were horrible. This site had a forum where she asked other members to critique her profile. They were brutal!! Women accused her of touching up her photo, several men said crude things and that she was their next playmate in the playpen. She felt like she was back in grade school. It did not take her long to realize she had chosen the wrong dating site to meet people.

This article was released on August 16, 2008 from the Toronto Sun: Here is an excerpt:

When the news of Stanley Tippett’s arrest surfaced just over a week ago, an Oshawa woman couldn’t help but shudder.
She realized the man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Peterborough girl was the same smooth-talking guy she met nearly a year ago through an online dating service.

Now the 36-year-old, who is too afraid to have her name published, says she is glad she listened to her instincts when Tippett urged her to get together for a face-to-face meeting. “Thank God I didn’t meet with him,” the woman said yesterday. Tippett, 32, has a lengthy history of stalking and harassing young women.

The woman claims she met Tippett last October through the popular website plentyoffish.com, a free online dating service that boasts more than 250,000 users logging on each day from around the world.
++++++++ end ++++

Related Stories

•	Sexual assault charge linked to online dating
•	Officials expect to find more alleged victims in sexual assault case

Another story about Tom Currie

Currier, 34, of 6 Marsh Lane, is currently being held without bail at the Rockingham County House of Corrections and has been charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault.

The charge alleges that Currier drugged a female dinner guest and then sexually assaulted her at his home Aug. 3.

At his Wednesday hearing held in Hampton District Court, Currier waived probable cause through his attorney, Olivier Sakellarios.

Sakellarios argued the issue of bail during the hearing, stating his client should have the right to post some type of cash bail and not be held without even the possibility of release.

Deputy County Attorney Tom Reid petitioned the court to maintain Currier’s bail status during the hearing and told the court the alleged sex assault may not necessarily be an isolated incident.

Reid said that according to several women who have come forward since his arrest, Currier has displayed a course of conduct over the past several months that leads Reid to believe Currier is a danger to the community.

Currier is alleged to have met the women through various online dating services, such as Match.com and PlentyofFish.com, and allegedly made attempts to get women to meet him at his residence.

Women and men need to date safe. There is nothing wrong with meeting people at coffee shops several times until you feel comfortable with them. Bringing them to your home is something I would not personally do for over.

Another story from New Zealand, but this happens throughout the U.S.A. and Canada on a regular basis. This excerpt is from the New Zealand Herald:

June Dunleavy, 47, and Ralph Thomason, 45, both spent thousands trying to fly potential lovers they met through online dating services to Brisbane.

Ms Dunleavy, who owns a management training business, said she came from an educated background but was duped during an emotionally vulnerable time.

She said she spent thousands of dollars trying to fly the man to Brisbane.

“I waited for one and half hours at the airport. I contacted airport police who confirmed that he didn’t board the plane. That’s when I knew it was a scam,” Ms Dunleavy, who is going through a divorce, told reporters today.

“It will take me a good year to recover my losses. It was in the tens of thousands.

“He had played on my emotions. They are very clever. He was saying all the right things.”

Mr Thomason said he too was emotionally vulnerable when he was scammed $20,000.

“I was sick of being alone. I have been alone for most of my life and I work a lot,” he said.

“She said she loved me and wanted to live with me.

“I’m a construction worker. You can hit me with a brick and I can get back up, but attack my heart and I’m a soft man.”

Detective Superintendent Brian Hay said romance scams generally involved a love interest who claimed to be of English or American heritage with links to a west African country, such as Nigeria or Ghana.

Once a relationship has begun they then ask for money to buy an airline ticket to visit the victim, seal a business deal, pay for medical expenses after an accident, or to help them after a robbery or because of corrupt officials, Supt Hay said.

He said anyone who thought they might be a target, or knew someone else who was, should contact police.

I will keep posting news about FREE online dating scams and hopefully I can stop someone from being another assault victim or worse.

I was so excited to read the news about these historical records going online in 2009. I came to a standstill while researching the family name. It is difficult finding small parish records, and looking through wills to find new branches in the family tree.

This is a copy of the BBC news today:

Historical records to go online
The copy of a 1297 version of Magna Carta auctioned in the US
The first records are expected to go online in early 2009

A collection of historical records covering 500 years of London’s history is to go online.

The London Metropolitan Archive and Guildhall Library Manuscripts date from the early 16th Century to 2006.

Owned by the City of London, they include parish records, school records, electoral registers, lists of workhouse labourers and wills

The first records are expected to be launched in early 2009 on the website Ancestry.co.uk.

Those records will include parish records from more than 10,000 Greater London parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, dating from the 1530s to the 20th Century.

London school admissions from 843 schools, dating from the early Victorian times to 1911, will also be made available initially.

It is hoped the records will help people trying to trace the roots of ancestors who lived in or passed through London at some point in time.

++++
This is great news for people whose ancestors originated from London, England.

As I work in a mainly male dominated industry it is nice to find a website just for women who contribute great articles about such a vast array of subjects. It is on my list of sites to go to every morning. Check it out, and put it on your must read list.

I am celebrating 10 years in the Dating Industry and I can not thank everyone enough for supporting me over the years. I am now celebrating a new era in my life as a grandmother. My daughter is due any day now and I am so excited. The best part is that she will be living with me for a while as her and her husband are in the middle of building an addition. Stay tuned for baby news!!

Wow what a subject. Since I found out my daughter was having a boy we have talked about this and I find that most people are not educated about the process. This is the era of the Internet, type circumcision in any search engine, google it, read a book. I actually found a book at the midwives office and it scared the heck out of me. My son’s were not circumcised as one was born in England and they do not do it there unless it is requested and the same here in Canada for my other son. You have to pay $300.00 privately in Canada. OHIP does not cover it, as it is listed as an operation that is an option.

Here are the arguments:

1. the old locker room story, but I do not want my boy to stand out. If your son had a bigger penis then other boys or a smaller one they would stand out and there is nothing you can do about that. to me this is a lame argument
2. it will cause a disease in women. This has been proven to be wrong! Education is key, and cleanliness.
3. It is harder to clean an uncircumcised baby’s penis. It is actually harder to clean a women’s genital area then a boys.
4. My husband is circumcised and I do not want them to look different. So you are going to put your newborn baby through the pain and suffering so he looks like his Dad?

Times are changing, and we have more information at hand. Do not do it because your relatives did, that is not a good enough excuse. Watch a video on how they do this operation, google the term and see for yourself. There are a lot of people in the Jewish faith that have started a webpage against circumcision. Jews against circumcision, JAC for short. So the argument for religious reasons is being challenged here

Check out this website, they even talk about women being forced to be circumcised
Graphic photos of circumcision, this is horrible

Well, the baby is due in 15 days, that is IF he knows when he is supposed to be born. It is fascinating how a baby knows when to be born. I have been watching my daughter’s stomach can increasingly bigger and hearing all her pregnant friends say the same thing.

1. Why is it that strangers want to touch you, they would not do it under normal circumstances
2. Everyone has an idea of how to stir the baby up…if you are over due go for a bumpy drive, drink this, have sex…come one!
3. If anyone ever wants to know where the public washrooms are in any mall you have them all memorized.
4. So much fun to see your little bump grow and buy your first maternity clothes, but by month 8 you just want your figure back or at least see your toes.
5. When you tell people you are having a midwife deliver your baby they look at you like you have two heads. I had a midwife in a hospital in England and it was a great experience. Midwives offer a more personal experience, they are there for you throughout the pregnancy and they come to your home for the first 5 days. Does your OB or doctor do that? They use to
6. Rent the movie the business of being born. It will open your eyes, Rikki Lake came up with the idea after researching midwives.

Well being as I am the grandmother to be, I just have to wait for the call and jump into action and witness my daughter giving birth to her first child, our grandson. I am over the moon because my daughter has to live here for awhile while her house is being re built (they put on an addition) so I get to share in all those great moments for the first few months.

Stay tuned for more news

The popularity of Senior online dating has skyrocketed over the last few years. If you’re willing to search cyberspace for potential love, then you might get lucky. All you need is a computer and an Internet hook up. A few clicks of the mouse and boom! You have instant access to millions of potential love connections.

There are two primary types of dating sites: sites that require a yearly or monthly fee, and sites that are free. While the free sites offer the obvious advantage of “no fees”, there are many drawbacks that lie beneath their fee-free surface. On the flipside, paying a fee gets you a little more for your money: these sites are set up to elevate your user experience and you can also expect some general safety measures to be in place which is beneficial for Seniors.

Not all dating sites for Seniors are created equally; remember that! You’ll get what you pay for - or don’t pay for, in the case of the freebies. You are also putting yourself at risk using a free dating site and opening yourself up to many dangers.

They say every website is designed to make money, and if that rule applies to dating sites, how can they operate without charging fees for their services? First off, the free sites just don’t offer the perks the paid sites provide. You will most likely not find free webcam chatting or video hosting capabilities on a free site. But maybe most important - you won’t find responsive customer service. And that means no one ready to answer your questions. And surprise! Your free dating website might not even offer a phone number for customer support.

In place of the tech dating toys and quick-to-reply customer service, you’ll get another feature in abundance: you will see lots of advertising. Expect a whirlwind of banners that pop up and pop under when you sign on. Get ready for e-mail advertising to slam your mailbox at least once a week. Worst of all, your personal info could end up in the hands of a large advertising network.

Are you still considering free dating sites as a viable choice?

OK, let’s pretend you join one of those free sites. And you meet someone who interests you. Your e-mail conversations go so well that after a few weeks, you start talking by phone. After enjoying his or her virtual company, you decide to meet face-to-face. But - here’s the problem: there were no membership fees for the dating site. So this person could be virtually anyone. He or she could have uploaded false images and provided false personal information in their profile. And it all could have been done to lure you to meet face to face! Unfortunately, this is a story that constantly repeats itself. Now, not everyone who does this intends to hurt or harm you, but sometimes that’s exactly what he or she has in mind.

Suppose you agree to meet someone from a free dating site. And then suppose you’re robbed or otherwise assaulted, what do you tell the police? Here’s the problem: there’s no credit card on file. In fact, there’s no official payment information at all. So where do the police start to look?

None of the problems mentioned in this article exist on a paid Senior dating site. While these sites will definitely charge you a fee, you’re also guaranteed a more pleasant user experience - you won’t need to sift through paid advertisements or spam e-mails.

Members will have more features on paid dating sites; you’ll be able to perform detailed, elaborate searches. And when it comes to communicating with potential matches, you’ve got plenty of options: besides e-mail, you might also be able to instant message or even have a webcam chat.

Perhaps the best feature of a paid dating site is a subtle one. If you found someone from the site that you liked enough to meet face to face, that person’s real information is definitely on file with the dating site.

Over the last few years, online dating has opened new doors to new relationships. Are you looking for love? Willing to look online? Then you are in luck! A live Internet connection and a computer will get you started with online dating. Then a few mouse clicks, you’re on your way. At your fingertips: millions of potential love matches.

You’ll find two basic types of dating sites: free sites and paid sites. Not having to pay fees is an obvious advantage. But under their fee-free surface, these sites also have many drawbacks. On the flipside, the fee at the paid sites does get you a little more: they are set up to give you a better user experience and you can expect certain general security measures for members.

Not all dating websites are created equally. So keep this in mind when choosing between paid or free. You only get what you pay for - or don’t pay for, in the case of free sites. Using a free dating site could open the door to risk and unknown potential dangers.

Dating sites are businesses, just like any other service. But if that’s the case, how do the supposedly free ones work? How can they stay around and not charge members for their services? To begin with, the free sites just don’t offer the fancy communication tools. You will most likely not find free webcam chatting or video hosting capabilities on a free site. But of more concern, possibly, is the lack of customer service. If you get into trouble, you may not find anyone who can solve your problem. Don’t even think of calling their customer support phone line; you won’t find one.

But you will get something for nothing from the free dating sites: you’ll get tons of advertising thrown at you when you log on. Expect to swim through a sea of pop-ups and pop-unders. They’ll also be dumping e-mail advertising on you - at least once a week. And perhaps worst of all, your personal info can be sold to a large advertising network.

Are you still considering joining a free dating site?

So, let’s pretend you go ahead and sign on with a free dating site. Next thing you know - you find someone interesting. You start by e-mailing each other for a few weeks. Then you move on to phone conversations with this person. You’ve enjoyed his or her company virtually. But now you both say you’re ready to try a face-to-face meet. This person could be virtually anyone. Since there were no fees paid to use the service, there was probably no membership screening done. Hi or her images and personal information could be completely false. And this person could have done it all just to convince you to meet in person. Sadly, this isn’t unusual and happens all time. Not everyone who does this is malicious or intends to hurt the person being deceived, but too often, that is exactly what he or she means to do.

If you were to meet someone from a free dating site and you were to be robbed or otherwise assaulted, what information can you give to the police? How are they going to find this person when there is no credit card on file or other form of official payment information?

You won’t have to worry about any of these drawbacks on a paid dating site. While they will certainly charge you a fee, you’ll also get much more in exchange. You won’t be sifting through paid advertisements or dumping spam from your e-mail box.

The user interface for paid dating sites lets you do much more, such as performing elaborate search functions. And many offer alternate ways to communicate outside of e-mail. For instance, some sites offer instant messaging or webcam chatting.

Paid sites offer another perk, one that is very subtle and often undervalued. If you eventually found someone you liked, and you set a date to meet, you have some assurances; the other member’s real personal information is on file with the dating site.<a href="http://matchmakingmomma.com/dating/free-online-dating-can-be-dangerous/free-online-dating-dangers/"id="p43" rel="attachment" class="imagelink" title="Free Online Dating Dangers" >

I will start from the beginning. My daughter thought it would be so easy for her out town friends and family to shop online. Walmart in Canada does not have a registry but you can use their .com site. So my daughter and her husband spent several hours scanning items and adding items online to their baby registry. We have a friend in Kentucky who wanted to buy her a gift and went online. She found the items to purchase and when she tried to put down the shipping address it would not accept it. Apparently you can make a baby registry but not have it delivered to Canada?? So she decided to buy a gift certificate and sent a note to my daughter asking her to buy certain items that she had chosen. The gift certificate arrived, we went to Walmart and went to the baby section. The baby quilt set she wanted is not available in Canada!! So we decided to buy other items and are looking into a way of purchasing it in the U.S.A. and getting a friend to bring it over the border for us. We got to the cash register and the girl said she could not accept the gift certificate, we told her that we had phoned the head office and she said there would not be a problem we just had to ask for the Manager. The cashier came back and said the Manager asked if we would be going to the U.S.A. soon as she could use it there. My daughter is 8 1/2 months pregnant!! and we live nowhere near a border. I told her to get the Manager to phone into head office, the cashier told us we would have to wait awhile as it could take a long time. My daughter found a chair and I put our other things in the car. When I got back to the door of Walmart my daughter was waiting and said they told her that the card was not valid. How could that be? Our friend had a receipt in the envelope! So we left, empty handed and ready to take our business to Babies R Us.

So, Walmart you suck. I have sent you an email and will be calling again today. One thing a pregnant lady does not want to do is run all over the place in order to get all her baby needs. That is what a registry is for!! Make your website clearer, and educate your Managers a little. Asking my daughter if she is going to the U.S.A. soon is not a solution!!

Anyone else experience the same problems?

Update august 13, 2008

After several phone calls to the U.S. WalMart and Canada this is what happened. Canada said, why don’t you spend the gift card on the .com(american site) sounded easy enough. So off to their website, I made a big order including the one thing my daughter wanted most, got to the part where you add the gift certificate and it worked, then it said for remainder of order payment put in your credit card. Guess what? They will not accept Canadian credit cards!! So I phoned the American customer service number for the website, I was finally passed to a supervisor who said well, maybe we could take off the shipping if that would help. Yes, it would help I replied. But the catch is, in order for her to take of the shipping I needed to give an American credit card with an American address. Back to square one. My solution? I put the one item in that my daughter wanted badly (not available in Canada), if you ask for the item to be sent to a store you SAVE on the shipping cost. I did that and it was just under the amount on the gift card. Now all I have to do is get a good friend to pick it up. They live in Windsor, Ontario and go to Michigan on a weekly basis. My husband will then pick it up from them (4 hours drive one way) Man I feel I have gone through labour on this one!

Well it has been some time, I thought I would post every week but after awhile I did not want to weigh myself. I wanted to judge my weight loss by the clothes I was wearing. I started wearing belts on my capri’s, two pairs of jeans just will not hold up anymore and I had to buy some new bras.

I have tried everything, exercise, Weight Watchers..and a few others and I have finally found something that works for me. I am nearly 30 lbs down…when I look at 5 lb bags of potatoes I look at them in a totally different way..to imagine that I lost that much

I would love to post a before photo of me, but I think I will when my journey is over. I am not calling this a diet, as Isagenix’s is not a diet. It is weight loss, but also cleansing and gives you so much more energy. I just dusted off my bicycle and if it is not raining tomorrow I am going out for a bike ride. I would never have done this back in April. I never had the energy. Have any of you tried Isagenix’s. Click on this link for more information

This is a whole new experience for me. I am so excited, we have got the bassinet ready, washed the old pram (I saved mine from England it is a Silver Cross) my daughter has her bags packed and the babies bag so now the waiting game. All her husband needs to do now, is to remember to grab the bags. We know it is a boy and his name will be Jack. We even know what he looks like to a certain degree, my daughter when for one of those 3D Baby places. It is amazing, what an experience. If anyone is interested I will post one of the best shots here. We are going to have a baby shower after the baby is born, it will be more of a birth celebration than a shower. We just want to have all our closest friends and family with us to celebrate the birth. I hope the weather holds up. It has been a very wet summer that is for sure.

There seems to be quite the baby boom this year, and mostly boys. Look out guys 20 years from now there is going to be a shortage of women haha.

I did not realize all the things you now have to take to the hospital. Hospitals do not provide anything anymore, no personal items for the baby or Mom. I remember when they did that with the schools. Remember when you got your pencils and paper from school. O.K. maybe I am dating myself here, but the times sure have changed. So we went online and did a search and found a complete list and printed it off. Looks like we have everything

Well Katie only has 4 weeks left, I will keep you posted.
