Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton

There has been a lot of talk/gossip/discussion regarding Paris Hilton. I want to add my two cents worth/ mother’s view.

It is interesting to see that Paris Hilton is the eldest of four and you rarely read about the other three at all. There is no point in me writing about the history of Paris Hilton when you can go to Wikipedia and find it all there. (I love Wikipedia because it gives you so much information) Now what kind of career or job would you take if you were so wealthy? She tried modeling, singing, acting, and has lent her name to a lot of businesses as well. According to an article by Forbes Magazine, Hilton earned approximately $2 million in 2003–2004, $6.5 million in 2004–2005, and $7 million in 2005–2006. Her latest legal problems arose from driving under the influence, then driving with a suspended license. Would it not have made sense, considering how much she is worth, to hire a chauffeur? Come on Paris, we are not putting you down because you are out partying and drinking. It is just the fact that you think you can get behind a wheel and drive. You have been given special consideration where you are going to serve your time, be thankful for that. God help you if you had been put in with everyone else, you got put in the special section “reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. Don’t ever think because of your celebrity status that you will not serve your time, and that people are going to make it any easier for you. It is BECAUSE you are a celebrity that people want to make sure that you are NOT treated any differently.

Am I making too much sense? I really think that she feeds off of the media attention. The media follows her closely, (there really must be a shortage of real news) so she knows that when she is driving, shopping, bar hopping or appearing at a venue that the media is right behind her.

O.K., word to Paris Hilton from a Mom. You need to grow up, find your purpose in life, and give back to the community, the world. Add the word charity into your life; donate your time to something worthwhile. Can you really say that you are happy the way that you are living now? I think when they gave you probation earlier that it really should have included the Real Simple Life. No cameras or media following your every move. Get your hands dirty, find out what it is like to have a minimum wage job. Find out how other people survive or barely survive. I know this show was to entertain, but I doubt you learned from your experience as it was all too surreal for you. Other people who are far wealthier find ways of giving back. Take Angelina Jolie for instance. She may be criticized for a lot of things, but her tireless efforts in the UN will be remembered long after she ever stopped acting. The best part of advice I can give you is “Park your car Paris!” If I was your mother I would have told you years ago. Driving is a privilege, abuse it and it WILL be taken away.

Oh and Paris, if you ever stop to think, you are actually feeding a huge empire that you DO NOT benefit from. Your photos are bought and sold to magazines and newspapers. You give them the content to write about and because it is controversial it SELLS magazines. Photos are sold for their shock value, for instance the No underwear Brittany Spears. Because she is a celebrity it is news. Big deal, she was not wearing undies. It might not be good for places like Victoria Secret but they will survive. And as far as that photo of you crying in the car…well I hope it was because you finally said to yourself just because I am a celebrity, I am not ABOVE THE LAW. I have to pay for my actions.

We are all responsible for our own destiny. Paris, your destined to be labeled as “famous for being famous” which suggests that you have no particular talents or abilities. You know that you do, I would suggest you find them. You reap what you sow, so start planting different seeds!
